Finally going to bed

Okay, I’m still up, had some website issues (this site was down for a half an hour) that I won’t elaborate on because it won’t make me look good (it…well, like I said, I won’t elaborate). Didn’t affect any other sites on my server though. Just this one.

I’ve been up since 7pm yesterday, so time to get a couple hours of sleep so I can get up and then get to bed again tonight (see my previous two posts for more on why that’s important…also see the last two posts for much more interesting stuff than this!).

  1. You have the strangest sleep schedule. I noticed that your site was down, because I’m bored at work and keep checking people’s blogs to see if anyone has updated. So, whatever it is that you did, don’t do it again ;)

  2. My sleeping schedule is “strange” naturally, and it reverts quickly to that state when I have time off. Then it takes a while to re-adjust to getting up early (I don’t always get into the whole “going to bed early” thing…which makes getting up early that much harder) when I have to go back to work.

Anyway, I did go to bed at 10am Saturday after I posted (and got the blgo back up…if you have a dedicated server, it’s best not to mess with your site files using the root login because the permissions get screwed up easily). I was going to sleep for a couple of hours and get back up, but I didn’t get up until 6:30pm. I ate dinner with my family and then my Dad and I went to see a 9:40 showing of “Ocean’s Twelve”. I thought it was really good, in a slightly different way than the first but still enjoyable. Worth a look again on DVD when it comes out. And part of the movie is in Amsterdam, which was cool to see again! I couldn’t pick out anything specific that I saw in person this year, but that’s one of the reasons I want the DVD so I can look again.

I’m trying to decide now if I should go to bed or not tonight. I’m considering laying down for a while, maybe doing some more reading. Last night I went on a book-finding spree and put about 16 books on hold at IMCPL. Lots of Normal L. Geisler worldview books and others I found on the same topic (nice to do research on Amazon.com and then usually find them at the library for free!). I also reserved several of the Harmony series novels, since I just finished reading “Home To Harmony” and found it hilarious. An overpouring of dry wit. I can’t tell if some of the other books (not Harmony series) he’s written are coming from a serious standpoint or not (I haven’t read them, just reviews)…if they’re serious, he’s got some weird views…like everyone is saved because God loves everyone so much, and something else I can’t recall at the moment. But his comedy stuff is very funny and often on the mark with it’s satirical views of small-town Quaker living (not that I’m a Quaker or live in a small town, so take my opinion with a grain of salt…but he is funny!). For a tates of his writing, just read his short bio page at http://www.philipgulleybooks.com/aboutauthor.html and you’ll know kind of what the Harmony books are like.

I should quit this comment before it becomes too worthy of being an actual post, rather than a comment! Maybe someday I’ll “promote” it.

  3. Oh yeah, the other thing Philip Gulley seems to believe is that hell isn’t real. So, put together “everyone is saved by grace” (which I agree with…but only that those that are saved in the first place are saved by grace, not that everyone in the entire world is saved) and “hell isn’t real” and you’ve got someone who seems to be conservative at first glance that has some striking liberal theological hangups. Oh well, like I said it doesn’t make him less funny. There’s a really good interview with him (he’s apparently pastoring right here in Danville, Indiana right now) over at http://www.beliefnet.com/story/151/story_15139_1.html
